Capital FM’s Big Wedding returns, in partnership with Love & Lace Bridals

The Big Wedding-S8

After taking a four-year break, as a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Capital FM Big Wedding has returned for its eighth season in partnership with Love & Lace Bridals, the bridal emporium that has its home housed at the heart of Kampala’s new Pioneer Mall.

To be honest, as Mikolo, who celebrate love and unions like our life depends on it, we missed the Big Wedding. We missed the love stories that come with before a winning couple is decided, we missed the journey that comes with a good measure of anxiety and joy as the build up to the actual wedding day.

Understanding that love is the only currency that may preponderate blood, Capital FM birthed an annual event to celebrate love with its listeners.

Like most of the Gen Alpha cohort, the Big Wedding owes its birth to over decade ago, back in 2013 before Mikolo was born.

“In 2013, the Big wedding was born and so we’re now in the eighth season, but as you are all aware, during the pandemic of 2019 – 2020, we suspended the events because of the crowd lockdown and so we’re very happy to be announcing it again and relaunching it this year,” Peter Jackson Mungoma, the stations CEO noted during the launch.

And once again, like the norm has always been, they’ve partnered with seasoned brands from the events industry and beyond to deliver the dream of wedding for a lucky couple for the 8th time of asking.

Well, just like us here at Mikolo, the partners are equally blind, eagerly waiting to see who the winning couple will be that they will serve.

Speaking at the launch, hosted at the prestigious Speke Resort Munyonyo, that will equally house the function as the reception, Sheila Tusiime, the CEO Love & Lace couldn’t hide her joy about the prospect of this date with her bride.

“I’m honored to be part of this. I guess November is one month to Christmas so the Big Wedding is launching us into a season of joy and happiness. I’m glad that I’m going to be part of this, working with an amazing team,” Sheliah remarked.

“Like the newsroom where news is different every single day, the anonymity of it is exciting. The fact that I don’t know the bride, I don’t know what she looks like, what her entourage looks like. That’s what is exciting me about this, that I have to figure it out and make it work,” she added.

Although the bride is still unknown to her, when quizzed, Sheila acknowledged that her fashionistic mind was already in overdrive, with ideas flooding her creative mind on what to do is any of her conjured ‘ifs’ come true (if she is brown, if she is a melanin queen, if she is slender, medium sized or a plus size).

“Although Love & Lace is widely known to be a bridal palace for traditional wear, we are also venturing into gowns as well and that’s why I’m really excited about this, the fact that Capital FM chose us among the very many service providers out there,” Sheila said.

Among the so many other service providers include; Xcy Events, Fotogenix, The Looks, FaythPresh Makeup, HairbyZziwa,  Abeeka Band, Rwanda Air, Uganda Breweries, Buzz Events etc.
