Once a photography model with Paple Ryan Hub Uganda, Emmanuel Mugenyi never imagined that his journey would take such a dramatic turn. After many struggles in love and losing hope of ever finding true love again, he laid aside every plan of chasing relationships. Two years after joining Friends of Christ Church Kireka, God entrusted him with the responsibility of serving as a Youth Pastor—a role he embraced wholeheartedly, with no pursuit of relationships in mind.

But God had a different plan. In the course of serving faithfully, Emmanuel crossed paths with Eng. Lilian Mugala—a brilliant telecom engineer, book lover, and focused young woman. Their love story, however, didn’t begin smoothly.

At first, there was indifference, misunderstandings, and even ignoring each other. Yet, despite the many times they started off on the wrong foot, God was quietly weaving their destinies together. Emmanuel chose to patiently walk with Lilian in her Christian growth, often encouraging her in fellowship and prayer.

That patience and persistence bore fruit. When the time came to propose, Emmanuel wanted something unforgettable. After months of research, saving, and planning, he discovered a hidden gem—a private ngalawa sailing in Jambiani, Zanzibar, complete with a dedicated crew, secluded lagoons, and coastal cuisine.

To Lilian, the trip seemed like just another getaway outside the country. But in reality, it turned into a breathtaking surprise—a proposal on the blue waters of the Indian Ocean. With God’s favor, what began as a financial risk of sending money in advance transformed into a dream come true.

Every detail was divine: the calm ocean breeze, the beauty of the setting, and the perfect background song, “I’m Choosing You” by Witness ft. Ykee Benda. The lyrics and melody synced with the moment, capturing the essence of love and faith.

This isn’t just another proposal story—it’s a testimony of faith, perseverance, and Christian love. It shows that God honors those who wait on Him. As the Apostle Paul writes:

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” (Colossians 2:6–7)

Marriage, after all, is not only about two people but also a reflection of Christ and His Church.
