I have always known life to be unfair, be it in service, social or in love. Life is one that has the ability to make you feel like you’re in total control of your own destiny before thrusting you a hole so deep and dark the next minute to make you feel like you don’t even know the slightest thing about it.
Othman and Doreen’s love story is the perfect tale of how life can come at you so fast, and from all possible angles like a tsunami. Their love chronicle “is a story of faith, patience and selfless sacrifice.”
The two lovebirds “met through work in 2017” and became friends. One thing led to another over the course of a year and by August 2018, they already planned to hold their Kukyala at Doreen’s parents’ home in Isingiro.
Unfortunately, the couple suffered a double whammy that forever altered how they wanted to write their love story. Prior to their Kukyala, “her dad got a stroke. They decided to wait until he was better but in December 2018 he passed on,” the couple told revealed.
“In July 2019 Othman and family visited her family in Isingiro and the dates for both Kuhingira and Wedding were set for 30th Nov 2019 and May 2020 respectively.”
But their preparations for both events delt a big blow when “Othman’s mum was diagnosed with cancer” just a few weeks to their Kuhingira.
Doreen and Othman “agreed to go ahead with Kuhingira and postpone the wedding indefinitely” knowing that cancer treatment and care for their mum would cost an arm and a leg. But because they really wanted to be together, they “decided to simply take their vows on 7th December 2019 with the necessary witnesses”.
The witnesses treated the couple to a surprise lunch and a cake at a cafe in town. Unfortunately, their mother give-up the ghost on June 21, 2021.
Despite their misfortunes, they still hoped and planned to have a big wedding and Serene Beauty in collaboration with a host of renown service providers, as part of their celebrations of making 15 years in business delivered them just that under “The Serene Dream wedding” contest that offered the winning couple an all-expense paid white wedding.
Othman and Doreen won and were treated to a wedding of their dreams. On Tuesday 13th February 2024, the couple exchanged their vows at Watoto Church Bweyogere before hosting their close friends and family to a marvelously decorated reception by iCandy at Tazan Gardens in Bweyogere.
Congratulations Doreen and Othman. We wish you the very best of a fruitful marriage. A special vote of thanks to all the service providers who put their hands together to make this wedding a complete success.
