I think people who meet their future lifetime partners at a friend’s wedding should start paying those friends after they’ve gotten married. While it remains unique and a special place to meet, in my experience interviewing couples, I have come across a number of former bridesmaids, groomsmen and sometimes wedding guests who met their spouse at a friend’s wedding.
And the case was no different for Asio Bernadette a.k.a Detta, a Community Liaison Officer at UNRA and her fiancée Bayise Rodgers, a professional Surveyor at Horizon Survey consults at Wandegeya.
Mikolo.com had a chat with Bernadette following their beautiful kukyala on Saturday 21st of August 2021 at her parents’ home.
According to Detta, the two “met at a mutual friend’s wedding meeting in 2018 but started dating a year later.” She adds that they dated for “close to two years” before Rodgers asked to officially meet her parents.
Detta describes her fiancée as a “God-fearing, generous, reliable and hardworking” man.
Tell us one memorable moment with your spouse!
I’ll share a recent one…He is the kind of person who doesn’t seem to listen or take note of what you want but he does.
On his birthday this year we went away and while having breakfast, the waiter came to our table to tell us the photographer had arrived…so I asked him why he didn’t tell me he wanted to take photos so that we take pictures while in Kampala and he told me he wanted his birthday to be extra special and was also tired of me asking him to take my pictures from every other beautiful spot of the place we were staying at.
So we went picked all our clothes and he said we would have a photo shoot and indeed it was a whole shoot.
Then finally we went to the water deck where he expressed his fatigue of photos while for me it felt like I was getting ready to begin.😂 Anyway I kept taking pictures as he stood at the back and the photographer kept giving me various poses and told me to turn at once on turning there he was on his knee asking for my hand in marriage…
I couldn’t hear what else he was saying all I heard was will you marry me …I kept shivering the entire time as I said the surest yes of my entire life. I thank God for that.
